Description

The Two-Handed Saber with Scabbard combines a long curved blade with a close balance point for controlled handling in armored combat. It comes as a complete set with a fitted wooden-core leather scabbard and adjustable carrying belt.

The saber is made according to the requirements for Buhurt International Type 3 bladed weapons (two-handed swords). Its 127 cm (50 in) overall length provides the reach expected from a two-handed weapon, while the balance point sits only 4 cm (1.6 in) from the crossguard.

TL;DR

  • Saber length: 127 cm (50 in)
  • Blade length: 93 cm (36.6 in)
  • Saber weight: 2.395 kg (5.28 lb)
  • Balance point: 4 cm (1.6 in) from the crossguard
  • Crossguard width: 22 cm (8.7 in)
  • Made according to Buhurt International Type 3 bladed weapon requirements
  • Wood-core scabbard shaped to match the curved blade
  • Light brown leather covering matches the saber grip
  • Stainless steel scabbard furniture
  • Adjustable multi-size carrying belt included
  • Total length with scabbard: 143 cm (56.3 in)
  • Total weight with scabbard and belt: 3.375 kg (7.44 lb)

Built Around Armored Combat

The saber uses a 93 cm (36.6 in) curved blade and a long two-handed grip. However, its balance point remains close to the crossguard at 4 cm (1.6 in). This keeps the weapon responsive despite its 2.395 kg (5.28 lb) weight and 127 cm (50 in) overall length.

The 22 cm (8.7 in) crossguard was also sized specifically with armored combat in mind. When used with a gauntlet, the guard extends no more than approximately 3.5 cm (1.4 in) beyond it. Therefore, you still get useful hand protection without an unnecessarily oversized guard interfering with handling.

Fitted Wooden-Core Scabbard

This set includes a scabbard built specifically around the shape of the saber. Its wooden core follows the curved blade instead of using a generic straight construction. As a result, the saber sits properly inside the scabbard while the rigid core protects and supports it during transport.

Light brown leather covers the wooden core and matches the leather-wrapped handle. In addition, stainless steel furniture reinforces the scabbard and complements the saber’s polished metal components.

Adjustable Carrying Belt Included

An adjustable multi-size leather belt with metal furniture comes with the scabbard. Multiple suspension points support the long curved scabbard and allow it to hang naturally when carried.

With the saber inside, the complete setup measures 143 cm (56.3 in) and weighs 3.375 kg (7.44 lb). So, you receive the weapon, fitted scabbard, and suspension system as one complete set rather than having to source compatible pieces separately.

Two-Handed Swords FAQ

Two-Handed Swords

Type 2 swords may have a handle between 20 and 50 cm. Type 3 swords allow a handle between 30 and 50 cm. The ideal length depends on your gauntlets, hand size, and technique.

The grip should accommodate both gauntleted hands without crowding them against the guard or pommel. It should also allow small hand-position adjustments. Test the sword with your actual combat gauntlets because padded hand armor changes grip diameter, spacing, and wrist movement.

No. Buhurt rules prohibit thrusts and weapons designed solely for stabbing. Fighters may only deliver permitted cutting strikes with the approved striking areas. The blade must have blunt edges and a rounded point.

Both striking and non-striking edges need at least 2 mm of thickness. Every edge also needs a radius greater than 10 mm. Tournament officials must inspect the sword before use.

A Type 3 bladed weapon should weigh between 2.3 and 3 kg. Current requirements allow an upward measurement tolerance of 100 g. Type 3 swords must also measure 120 to 160 cm overall, with a blade length of 90 to 130 cm.

Some smaller two-handed swords qualify as Type 2 weapons instead. These swords must weigh between 1.7 and 2.3 kg. Always classify the weapon by its actual specifications rather than its product name.

Type 2 longswords belong to the longsword duel category. Fighters may also use qualifying Type 2 and Type 3 bladed weapons in buhurt group battles, including 5v5 and larger melee formats. Outrance or profight may permit two-handed swords that meet the relevant measurements and balance requirements.

A large sword sold as a greatsword does not automatically qualify for every category. Officials determine its class from its weight, length, construction, and historical design.
