Starting in armored combat can feel confusing. This page gives you a clear path: What to buy first, what can wait, and how to build your kit safely and step-by-step.
1. Under armor kit
Everything begins with a proper under-armor kit. A good gambeson and padded legs make your steel sit better, absorb hits, and let you survive long training sessions. If the padding is wrong, every other piece of armor will feel worse – it’s like building a house on soft mud.
Each padded kit comes with arming points in the box so you can stitch them and fit your armor correctly.
You can also add the padded kit later in the full-kit item, but if you have enough time, it’s always better to get the padding first. That way your armor measurements will be accurate, and the final fit will be perfect.
Recommended under armor pieces:
2. Full kits – essentials for real battles
When you are ready to move from training hits to real buhurt fights, a full kit is the fastest and safest way to do it. These sets are designed to work together, so you don’t end up mixing random parts that don’t fit or protect properly.
Each Advanced Edition kit includes an arming belt for your steel legs. And if you order everything together, you can add the padded kit right on the armor-kit page – we will adjust your measurements and craft both padding and armor in parallel.
Recommended full kits:
3. Period shoes and sabatons
Feet and ankles take a surprising amount of damage in buhurt. Proper period shoes and sabatons protect you from injuries and give you stable, confident movement. Many fighters understand this only after taking the first painful stomp.
Also note that most leagues require sabatons for tournaments, so they’re not just a comfort upgrade — they’re mandatory.
Recommended footwear and sabatons:
4. Protection upgrades
After your first real fights, you will naturally feel the weak spots where you need more safety. This is the perfect moment to add protection upgrades. No need to buy everything on day one — upgrade based on real experience, not guesswork.
Recommended protection upgrades:
5. Useful extras
These extras aren’t essential for your first fights, but they make your buhurt life much easier. Good tools and accessories save time, nerves, and sometimes entire tournament weekends. From armor stands and backpacks to repair kits — all of it becomes useful faster than you expect.
