Description

Bascinet from the Bavarian Army Museum

Museum-based design, rebuilt for full-contact combat. This Bascinet with Klappvisor is inspired by an original visor from the Bavarian Army Museum. It follows historical proportions while being reinforced for modern armored combat, making it a solid choice for buhurt fighters who want maximum head and neck protection.

Specifications of the Bavarian Klappvisor Bascinet

  • Dome thickness: 3 mm (0.12 in) top, 2 mm (0.08 in) lower section
  • Visor thickness: 2 mm (0.08 in)
  • Material: Hardened 30HGSA steel
  • Chainmail: Steel riveted chainmail
  • Weight: 7.58 kg (16.7 lbs)

Included with the Helmet

  • Dome with securely attached klappvisor
  • Visor locking strap
  • Foam liner with padded aventail
  • Hardened steel neck protection plates
  • Two sets of chin straps
  • Simon strap
  • Riveted chainmail aventail

Protection and Stability

The thickened dome absorbs vertical and angled strikes, while the 2 mm hardened steel visor offers strong frontal protection. As a result, the helmet performs well under heavy impact. In addition, the visor locking strap keeps the klappvisor firmly closed during combat, reducing unwanted movement.

Comfort and Combat Readiness

The padded liner and aventail help manage shock and improve comfort during long fights. Moreover, the steel-reinforced neck protection adds safety in clinches and ground fighting. Because the helmet includes dual chin straps and a Simon strap, it stays stable even during intense grappling.

  • Museum-inspired klappvisor design
  • Reinforced dome for heavy strikes
  • Secure visor locking system
  • Padded aventail with steel neck plates
  • Multi-strap system for stable fit

Heavy, stable, and tournament-ready. Add this Bavarian Army Museum Bascinet to your kit and fight with confidence and historical style.

Helmets FAQ

Classic bascinets are one of the most versatile and widely accepted choices in armored combat. Whether it’s a clapvisor, spoletto, nasal bascinet, or bascinet with a cross, these models offer solid protection — especially around the eyes — and are compatible with most common armor kits used in tournaments.

Their design balances protection, breathability, and visibility, making them a reliable choice for both new and experienced fighters.

To ensure the helmet for armored combat fits correctly, take your measurements without any padding, using a tailor’s measuring tape.

Refer to the diagram:

  • A – Maximum head circumference measured horizontally around the widest part of the head (typically from the forehead across the back of the skull).
  • B – Vertical distance from the center of the eye level straight down to the top of the shoulder. This helps us determine the appropriate helmet length to ensure full coverage without restriction.

For the best fit, please double-check your measurements and include them in centimeters.

If there are any specific considerations — such as plans to wear additional padding, a request for reinforced vision protection (e.g., extra eye bars), or anything else that might influence the build — please mention this in the order comments during checkout. We take these details into account during production to ensure your helmet arrives ready and optimized for use.
