Eclipse 7-Segmented Pauldrons are large shoulder armor designed for fighters who prioritize maximum coverage without giving up the mobility needed for armored combat. Seven overlapping segments extend protection around the shoulder and upper arm, while the articulated construction lets the pauldrons move with you.

Eclipse is deliberately big. The approximately 45 cm (17.7 in) wide main segment provides substantial coverage around the shoulder, while seven overlapping plates continue that protection down the upper arm. As a result, you get more coverage from the front, side, and rear of the shoulder than with a smaller pauldron design.

However, large shoulder armor still needs to move. Therefore, Eclipse uses seven articulated segments rather than one rigid shell. Sliding rivets connect the plates at the back, while a leather strap connects them at the front. This construction allows the segments to shift and overlap as you raise, rotate, and extend your arms.

The front geometry also leaves room around the neck. Consequently, the upper section can provide broad coverage without constantly pressing or pinching against the neck when you move your head and shoulders.

We use hardened 65G spring steel throughout the pauldrons. The main shoulder segment is reinforced to 1.5 mm (0.06 in), while the remaining segments use 1 mm (0.04 in) steel. Therefore, the construction puts additional material in the central shoulder area while keeping the articulated sections lighter.

In addition, both the upper and lower edges are rolled. The rolled profile increases edge rigidity and makes these high-contact areas more resistant to deformation during regular combat use.

At 2.74 kg (6.04 lb) per pair, Eclipse is not designed to be our smallest shoulder option. Instead, it is built for fighters who accept some additional size and weight in exchange for large-area shoulder and upper-arm coverage.

How should I take the measurements for my arms armor?

General Recommendations for Measurements for Arms Armor:

Clothing: Measurements should be taken wearing the gambeson you intend to wear with the armor. Sweaters or jackets will not accurately reflect the thickness of the gambeson and could lead to ill-fitting armor.

Bare Arms: If you are ordering both arms and padding together, measuring your bare arms is acceptable. However, please clearly indicate on the measurement sheet that the measurements are for bare arms.

Measurements: Take all measurements with a flexible measuring tape, snug but not tight.

Additional Notes:

• If your gambeson has any unusual features that might affect the fit of the armor, please describe them in the notes section.
• For best results, have someone else take your measurements.
• Feel free to include any other measurements you think might be helpful, such as elbow circumference.

Required measurements:
