Description
Chalkis Brigandine for Armored Combat
Chalkis Brigandine for armored combat gives strong torso protection for buhurt, duels, and full-contact medieval fighting. The design takes inspiration from a late 14th to early 15th-century coat of plates and adapts it for modern combat use.
This brigandine focuses on coverage first. The large chest and back plates protect the main impact zones from heavy strikes, pushes, and falls. As a result, it works well for fighters who want serious protection in mass battles and hard training.
TL;DR
- Brigandine for buhurt and armored combat
- Inspired by late 14th to early 15th-century armor
- Available in hardened spring steel 65G or titanium VT1-0
- Hardened steel weight: 8.54 kg (18.8 lb) for XL size
- Titanium weight: 5.42 kg (12 lb) for XL size
- Large chest and back plates improve torso protection
- Mobility is more restricted than in smaller-plate brigandines
- Wool and canvas base
- Made to measure
You can choose hardened spring steel 65G for maximum durability or titanium VT1-0 for lower weight. Steel is the better choice if you want a tough, straightforward fighting brigandine. However, titanium makes more sense if you want less fatigue during long events.
The plate layout gives extended protection to the chest, back, sides, and upper hips. This matters when you take shoulder charges, weapon strikes, or land hard after a takedown. Also, the longer cut helps cover the torso when you kneel, bend, or fight near the list.
Important disclaimer: the chest and back plates are large because this brigandine follows the historical layout. Therefore, mobility is more restricted than in brigandines with smaller segmented plates. You trade some flexibility for stronger chest and back protection.
Each plate is riveted through the textile base with leather washers. This helps the brigandine handle repeated impacts, grappling pressure, and regular combat use without overcomplicating maintenance.
We make each Chalkis Brigandine to your measurements. So, it sits securely over your padding and stays stable when you run, wrestle, kneel, or recover after a fall.

Light, compact, and fingers feel safe AF
Super light compared to a regular gauntlet, but still gives really solid protection where it matters. Great for shield work because it doesn’t feel bulky or slow you down, and the fingers stay well covered even when things get rough. Exactly what I wanted from a shield mitten.
Very well made and very comfortable to wear. Came with my name written on one of the inside plates. Came with fun stickers as well, which is always a plus! It was a little small, but I think that might’ve been an issue on my end as I guessed I would need about an extra inch as I didn’t have my Gambeson yet. It is still effective and able to be used, just tight if fully buckled over my gambeson. Very stylish, very comfortable, good craftsmanship, fun note and stickers, nice touch with the name. Overall I am more than satisfied!
